The council was invited to participate in a career expo by the Youth Chamber of Shipping in Africa. We would like to congratulate the directors of YCSA for a job well done and for this wonderful initiative that creates awareness of careers within the maritime discipline to the youth. It was an honour to attend this event, where our CEO Brenda Horne-Ferreira was presiding as chair of the proceedings of the day. This event was graced by the presence of Deputy Minister of Higher Education Mr Mduduzi Comfort Manana who in his drive and passion for youth development, gave a key note address to the youth in attendance.
As CEO of SASTALC I am proud to be mentoring such a young and dynamic team of leaders who are passionate to drive change in the maritime industry - well done ladies! It was great to also meet with the CEO of TETA, Ms Anne Frempong, who invited us for engagment going forward.
A special word of appreciation also to our industry members who came and supported us on the day by way of exhibitions, hand outs and engaging with the students - Quatro Logisitcs, Barberry Group, CILTSA, BPL, - without your participation the students would have been left poorer. What an encouraging day to see the hunger from the students to know about our industry as well as the potential careers it has to offer.
